Ireland’s digital TV switchover will happen on October 24 2012, a mere five days away. The deadline to change is fast approaching and it is important to make sure people in Mayo are fully informed and prepared for this adjustment.

RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta is currently running an online listenership survey, and the station is calling on listeners to fill in the survey at www.rte.ie/rnag by May 9.

A total of 178 new jobs were created in the Galway Gaeltacht in 2011, according to the annual report of Údarás na Gaeltachta. There were 2,745 full-time equivalent jobs in Údarás supported companies in the Galway Gaeltacht at year end. New jobs were created during the year in companies operating in the audio-visual and digital media, medical devices, services and manufacturing sectors.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has announced that it is to conduct an inquiry into an RTÉ programme which defamed Ahascragh priest, Fr Kevin Reynolds.

An Ahascragh priest is set to bring a defamation case against state broadcaster RTÉ in the High Court next month.
